15 Feb. 2009: 11 Volunteers, 8 from SC Wing, Civil Air Patrol(CAP) and 3 from the Timmonsville Rescue Squad(TRS) completed a required Federal Emergency Management Administration(FEMA) Course on managing Expanding Incidents using the Incident Command System (ICS). Since Hurricane Katrina, all Agencies at all government levels, from township and tribal to Federal plus all non-governmental organizations, are required by the National Incident Management System (NIMS) to standardize to ICS methods, terminology, and equipment. It also requires all responders to be certified by FEMA to work within the Incident Command System. By completing this course, these volunteers are now qualified to work in the Incident Command Post, severing the Pubic in many different and important ways. The Instructor was William Powell of Darlington, SC. The course was hosted by Florence Composite Sqdn, SC Wing, CAP. Lt Col Wm Cheney was the Course Director and 2Lt Bill Hargrove was the Asst.
