The 2007 SC Wing Annual Conference, Cadet Summit, and Awards Banquet was held 17 Feb 07 at Shaw AFB near Sumter. The day started with a General Assembly at which Col Michael Byrne, USAF, 20th FW Vice Commander, spoke about being a former CAP cadet and what that training meant to his life goals. Col Kay Walling, MER Commander, also presented an “MER Update”.

  During the day, cadets participated in a variety of physical competitions, including the annual Wing Cadet Competition. The winning team from Spartanburg Composite Squadron will represent the SC Wing at the Middle East Region Cadet Competition in March. In the meantime, CAP Officers spent the day attending a variety of training and informational seminars, including one about the ARCHER system and the new Wing Banker Solution.

The day wrapped up with the Awards Banquet, at which Mr. John Salvador, CAP National Director of Missions, gave a corporate update. Special guests were Representative Liston Barfield, a member of the Legislative Liaison Squadron, along with his wife Norma and grandson Hunter. The highlight of the evening was the presentation of annual awards to the following members and unit:
